The idea for starting myRebates.com came while at AT&T, I would often buy computer products at Comp USA. Most of those products included rebates, something I always felt was advantageous, however, it required that I photo copy everything and be diligent about follow-up to ensure I received "my rebate" check.

At first the venture was perceived to provide value to consumers, as a way to "Find, Buy and Track" products with rebates. However, the realization came that the needs of the manufacturer also needed to be considered; this couldn't be a consumer only business model.

At the end of 1999, I left AT&T and decided to take the plunge as an entrepreneur. As with all entrepreneur's, I wore many hats, this included developing the technology, the business plan, the financial plan, the market analysis, etc. The whole start-up experience was an invaluable lesson and instrumental in my professional development.

By the summer of 2000, myRebates assets were to be acquired by Lycos Labs in Waltham MA (was an incubation fund for start-ups in 2000). At that time, myRebates was going to be rolled up into another company and funded by Labs and I was to be the Chief Technology Officer of that new entity. However, the timing couldn't have been worse. Lycos was going through their own acquisition (Terra Networks aquisition of Lycos) and they decided to put a stop to the deal.

At this time, I decided to re-enter the marketplace and quickly found a great job at Monster Worldwide (back then known as TMP Worldwide).
