Education
AT&T provided me with exceptional training. Before anyone was allowed "on the floor" (i.e., a full-time technologist who made it through the training program) they had to go through a 3 month training program. The training program was called Initial Designer Training (IDT) program; my area of concentration was in the C programming language (IDT-C).

The course was three months long, 5 days a week and required each student to pass four tests. If a student did not pass either the third or the four tests, he or she would not be allowed to continue employment with AT&T. The course was very comprehensive as outlined in the handbook. In addition to IDT training, I was able to take numerous classes at AT&T's School of Business & Technology as well as go to graduate school (to pursue my MS degree in Information Systems) with the financial support of AT&T.

AT&T has a long history in research and technology. AT&T's Bell Laboratories was an innovator in numerous areas. In regard to software development, inventions such as Unix, C, C++, Korn & Bourne Shell all were created at Bell Labs.

Unfortunately, the AT&T School of Business and Technology is no longer operational. Please see my related links for information on the school when it was running.

Sincerly,
